Windows 11 22H2 updates fail with KB5025239 and KB5022497

The Windows 11 22H2 update fails due to the KB5025239 and KB5022497 cumulative Windows devices related to dotnet and system drivers. On affected systems, some newly installed printer drivers may halt the working of windows updates.

Recent printer related issues found effects of these updates are listed below:

  • Colour,
  • 2-sided printing, or
  • Higher resolutions not available with connectivity issues.

Microsoft explained, Windows needs connectivity to the printer to identify all the features of the printer.

According to Microsoft, reinstalling the printer will force Windows to download and reinstall the drivers, which should mitigate the problems. It also advises customers not to manually install the Windows 11 2022 Update on affected systems.

“If Windows does not automatically find a new driver after the printer is added, look for one on the device manufacturer’s website and follow their installation instructions”.

Despites of this, you can follow the below troubleshooting steps to fix your windows updates:

Turn off the windows update service like wauapp service found under taskmanager services tab and cryptoservice useful for windows udpates. This services will allow you to download windows updates. Rename the software distrubution to old folder under Windows in C drive.

Then restart your computer which will enable those windows update services automatically. Then re-check for new updates.
